What can you do to minimise the risk of purchasing fakes?

What can you do to minimise the risk of purchasing fakes?

Fake goods are a real nightmare of wholesale traders. Purchasing such goods entails loss of money, and sometimes additional problems linked to necessity of providing explanations before offices and bodies of the government. Below, you will find a couple of things you can do to minimise the risk of purchasing fakes.

Be suspicious of abnormally low bargain prices

If the market price of branded products is unjustifiably low, you can expect the goods are not genuine. We know it is difficult to indicate the due price range. The best thing you can do is to check the retail prices and then compare several wholesale offers on the chosen assortment. If one of them contains an outstandingly lower price without providing any justification such as a necessity of making a very large order, we advise you to keep caution.

Ask for a proof of payment

The proof of payment for the products purchased by the seller will be most often presented in form of a so called "sanitized invoice", i.e. a document without the company details of the trade partner. Nevertheless, you will find there basic information concerning the product, and you will thus confirm whether or not your potential trade partner has indeed the offered product in stock.

Ask for the product’s authenticity certificate

Some brands issue certificates on their products, and in this way facilitate the verification of whether they are original or not, …as well as make their counterfeiting more difficult. If you purchase branded luxury clothing (e.g. Armani) or high end electronics from certain manufacturers (e.g. Xiaomi), you can expect that the seller confirms they own the certificates.

The aforementioned activities should help you minimise the risk of purchasing fake products. Lastly, remember that Merkandi does not accept selling goods that are not genuine. Thus, if you have any doubts concerning originality of some products, please inform us immediately by contacting our Customer Support service.
