1.Security measures and rules of conduct:
- When in contact with dry ice, remember not to touch it directly with your bare hands, do it using means or devices dedicated for this purpose
- Dry ice is not intended for direct consumption. It must not be eaten or used to cool drinks. Dry ice is a freezing-cooling agent. Dry ice has nothing to do with consumption ice cubes.
- The opening time of the dry ice container should be minimized, and thus the time directly at the container.
- It should be remembered that due to the properties of dry ice, it should not be stored in tightly closed, unsuitable containers, because it may burst, which may be dangerous to health and life.
- The dry ice container and the dry ice itself should be kept out of the reach of children and animals.
- Direct contact with solid carbon dioxide (CO2) (dry ice is at -78 ° C) can cause frostbite.
- Must not be swallowed. Swallowing dry ice can cause very serious internal injuries. If dry ice is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
- Do not introduce dry ice into drains, basements, shafts, etc. where its concentration would become excessively high.
2.If you come into direct contact with dry ice, do the following:
- Contact with skin: rinse frostbites with lukewarm water for about 15 minutes, then cover with a sterile dressing and provide medical assistance.
- Eye contact: painful and difficult to heal frostbites can cause permanent eye damage. After contact with dry ice, rinse eyes immediately with lukewarm water, and repeat rinsing for another 15 minutes. Then cover with a sterile dressing while maintaining sterility. Ensure immediate assistance of an ophthalmologist.
- Inhalation of vapors: in case of fainting, take the victim into fresh air and lay him down in a safe position, and then call the emergency services.
- Ingestion of granules: dry ice is unfit for consumption, it can seriously damage the digestive system, call the emergency services immediately.
- People with: accelerated breathing, headaches, inability to move, unconsciousness, remove to fresh air, keep calm and warm cover, immediately call emergency services
