Thousands of new offers appear on Merkandi every day. Every seller would like their offers to be as high as possible, and buyers would like the listings to be as tailored to their needs as possible. Therefore, we have to make certain choices. These choices are strictly dependent on the section to which they apply. Below we indicate how we filter and sort the offers.
- In search - offers are presented according to the search match based on the entered phrase. In sorting the order of the offers, such elements are taken into account:
- search phrase - calculation of the value of a defined phrase for a product name and content using the BM25 algorithm ;
- promotion - whether the offer is promoted ( no matter what type of promotion);
- whether the offer is in the Exclusive Zone - these types of offers are higher on the list;
- date of publication or refreshment (whichever is the latest);
- status of the offer - active ones are above, freshly expired ones at the very end.
- Product database, Exclusive Zone, "Stocks" section, listings of a particular wholesaler's offers - offers are presented from newest to oldest by date of publication. Only active listings are taken into account. No additional factors influence the listing.
- Top offers section, Category/subcategory - offers are presented according to the rating function. The elements taken into account are:
- promotion - whether the offer is promoted ( no matter what type of promotion);
- whether the offer is in the Exclusive Zone - these types of offers are higher on the list;
- date of publication or refreshment (whichever is the latest);
- status of the offer - active ones are above, freshly expired ones at the very end.
- "Most popular offers" section - 6 most frequently displayed offers from the last 30 days are presented, sorted by the number of views.
In addition, promoted offers appear within the listings. Merkandi gives users the following forms of promoting offers:
- Week's best offer - The offer is displayed on the homepage in a dedicated section. The section can contain up to 10 offers at a time and they are displayed in rotation. In the absence of offers promoted by users, the most popular offers are presented.
- Top offer in the category - the offer is displayed in a dedicated section above the listing. 5 offers are displayed in a rotating format. Promotion occurs in both categories and subcategories. If there are no promoted offers - the section is not visible.
- Distinction on Merkandi - the offer is displayed in the listings by being highlighted in colour. This form of promotion does not have quantity limits.
- Highlight in the category - the offer is displayed at the top of the list of categories and subcategories, but this is done by imposing a higher value. This means that the offer does not always have to be at the top - it depends on the number of offers promoted with this option and on the obtained matching result taking into account the sorting algorithm mentioned in the previous section. This form of promotion does not contain any quantity restrictions.
Promotion of the offers is done by the sellers who purchase promotions from the available options on the platform. In addition, Merkandi promotes offers that are popular and considered interesting, and valuable to customers free of charge.
