The power adapter is designed to protect both the video recorder and your vehicle's battery from damage. The camera is protected against overload, short circuit and overcurrent current. If the vehicle's battery voltage drops below 11.8V, 12V or 12.4V, the camera will automatically turn off to protect it from damage. The adapter allows you to power the camera from the fuse box instead of the cigarette lighter socket, so you can mount it in such a way that its cable will be almost completely invisible.
