Each Maneki Neko cat is made of hollow ceramic with a waving plastic arm. The body has been designed with gold foil and hand-painted details and finished with green glitter for extra shine. The waving arm is located on a battery-powered mechanism that moves the arm back and forth. To start the movement, simply move the arm forwards or backwards. Maneki Neko literally translates to waving cat but is also known as a welcome cat, lucky cat and is often placed at the entrances of shops, restaurants and other shops in Japan.
