What protection does the Tech-Air 5 offer?
The Tech-Air 5 gives you unparalleled upper body protection by covering your shoulders, chest, ribs, and back. It is the only one of its kind to feature Extended Shoulder Protection that minimizes the risk of shoulder and collarbone injuries. In addition, this airbag system has an integrated back protector. How does the system work?
The Tech-Air 5 is equipped with an active electronic system with 6 integrated sensors (3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers) combined with a crash algorithm that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to accurately control when to inflate the airbag in the event of a fall. This intelligent algorithm is the result of years of research involving more than 50% of the world's top MotoGP riders, Alpinestars customers, and analyzed riding data from countless miles and crashes. When the algorithm identifies a crash situation, the airbag inflates within 20 to 40ms, depending on the size of the airbag. Connectivity
The Tech-Air 5 has an LED display (on the vest) that indicates the operational status. The battery has a lifespan of 30 hours of driving time. When the battery is low, you can charge it with the magnetic micro USB charger. You can also connect the Tech-Air 5 to the Tech-Air app via Bluetooth. In this app, you can view the operational status of the system, the battery status, and a detailed analysis of your ride. The system's filmware can also be updated directly through the app. The Tech-Air 5 has two different modes: STREET and RACE. Street mode allows you to drive safely on the road, and race mode is only made for closed circuits.

Can I wear this airbag system under my jacket?
Yes, you can wear the Tech-Air 5 under any jacket as long as it's stretchy or has 4cm of space around the chest (on the inside) if you have a textile jacket. This space is necessary for the airbag to expand in the event of a fall. For leather jackets, you need about 4 cm of space around the circumference of the body. If you want a leather sports jacket, you can opt for a Tech-Air 5 compatible jacket from Alpinestars. These jackets have built-in leather panels that expand when the airbag does too.
