Rebel Power Gel Battery 6 V / 1.3 Ah Gel batteries have become an alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free batteries. This means they do not require electrolyte topping up. What works in their favor is the sealed casing and the electrolyte in gel form. This guarantees that there will be no leaks, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and making it more shock-resistant. Durability of gel batteries One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their longevity. Among the available types on the market, this type is characterized by the longest lifespan since, when used properly, it can last for several years. Importantly, gel batteries also exhibit greater resistance to variable and extreme weather conditions. Automatic self-discharge (25°C) Gel batteries can be stored for many months without the need for charging. Their capacity decreases to: - 91% after 3 months - 82% after 6 months - 64% after 9 months Choosing a gel battery Suitable dimensions are not everything. When selecting a battery, attention must also be paid to its capacity - it should not be greater than 110% or less than 90% of the capacity recommended for the device you plan to power. The output voltage is also important, with its value needing to be very close to the recommended value (+/-0.2 V). Applications of gel batteries Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, or lawn mowers, among others. They are also used in uninterruptible power supplies, photovoltaic installations, alarm systems, or electric toys. Furthermore, these batteries can be found in vehicles with a large number of electrical devices, such as campers. They are then used not for starting the car but for powering electronic equipment.
