VIPOW Gel Battery 12 V / 250 Ah Gel batteries have become an alternative to classic lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free batteries. This means that they do not require electrolyte topping up. What speaks in their favor is the tight housing and electrolyte in gel form. This guarantees that it will not leak, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and making it more shock-resistant. Longevity of the gel battery One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Among those available on the market, this type is characterized by the longest lifespan, as with proper use it can operate for even several years. Importantly, gel batteries also exhibit greater resistance to changing and extreme weather conditions. Automatic discharge (25°C) Gel batteries can be stored for many months without needing to be charged. Their capacity drops to: 91% after 3 months, 82% after 6 months, 64% after 9 months. Choosing a gel battery The right sizes are not everything. When choosing a battery, it is necessary to pay attention to its capacity - it should not be greater than 110% or lower than 90% of the capacity recommended for the device you plan to power. The output voltage is also important, and its value must be very close to the recommended one (+/-0.2 V). Application of gel batteries Gel batteries are used, among other things, in motorcycles, golf carts, or lawnmowers. They are also used in emergency power supplies, photovoltaic installations, alarm systems, or electric toys. Moreover, these batteries can be found in cars with a large number of electrical devices, e.g., campers. They serve not to start the car but to power electronic equipment.
