The Vipow 12 V / 28 Ah Gel Battery has become an alternative to classic lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free. This means they do not require electrolyte replenishment. What speaks in their favor is the sealed casing and the electrolyte in gel form. This guarantees that it will not leak, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and making it more shock-resistant. Durability of the gel battery: One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Among the available types on the market, this one is characterized by the longest life, as it can operate even for several years when properly used. Importantly, gel batteries also exhibit greater resistance to variable and extreme weather conditions. Automatic discharge (25°C): Gel batteries can be stored for many months without the need for charging. Their capacity decreases to: - 91% after 3 months - 82% after 6 months - 64% after 9 months. Choosing a gel battery: Proper dimensions are not everything. When selecting a battery, attention must also be paid to its capacity - it should not exceed 110% or be less than 90% of the recommended capacity for the device you plan to power. The output voltage is also important, whose value must be very close to the recommended (+/-0.2 V). Application of gel batteries: Gel batteries are used among others in motorcycles, golf carts, or lawn mowers. They are also utilized in emergency power supplies, photovoltaic installations, alarm systems, or electric toys. Moreover, these batteries can be found in vehicles with a large number of electronic devices, e.g. campers. They serve not for starting the vehicle but for powering electronic equipment. Charger for the gel battery: For a charger to function properly and not damage the battery, it must have suitably selected current and voltage. At different stages of charging, these values will differ, so it is advisable to choose an automatic charger that will not only adjust the appropriate charging current and voltage but also turn off when the battery is fully charged.
