The VIPOW 6 V / 4.5 Ah Gel Battery Gel batteries have become an alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free. This means they do not require electrolyte refilling. What works in their favor is the sealed casing and the electrolyte in the form of gel. This guarantees that it will not leak, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and making it more shock-resistant. Durability of the gel battery One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Among those available on the market, this type has the longest life, as it can work for even over a decade if used properly. Importantly, gel batteries also have greater resistance to fluctuating and extreme weather conditions. Automatic discharge (25°C) Gel batteries can be stored without charging for many months. Their capacity decreases to:- 91% after 3 months- 82% after 6 months- 64% after 9 months Selection of a gel battery The appropriate size is not everything. When choosing a battery, attention must be paid to its capacity ? it should not be greater than 110%, nor less than 90% of the capacity recommended for the device you plan to power. The output voltage is also important, and its value must be very close to the recommended (+/-0.2 V). Uses of gel batteries Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, or lawn mowers, among others. They are also utilized in uninterruptible power supplies, photovoltaic installations, alarm systems, or electric toys.
