AdBlue® - Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). AdBlue® is a non-toxic, colourless, odourless, non-flammable solution consisting of 32.5% highly purified urea and 67.5% demineralised water. Adblue® has been specially developed for diesel engines whose exhaust system is equipped with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. It is injected into the exhaust gas in the catalytic converter of the diesel engine to reduce the emission of harmful nitrogen oxides AdBlue® is neither a fuel nor an additive.
By increasing the functional efficiency of the engine, a reduction in fuel consumption of 3-4% to EURO4, 5-6% to EURO5 and 8-10% to EURO6 is achieved. AdBlue® corrodes materials such as steel, copper and zinc, which is why it cannot be stored in galvanized steel tanks, but mainly in plastic packaging or pipes.
