This series is an innovation in the field of barcode scanners. Stratos scanners have been specifically designed for installation in shops (superstores and hypermarkets) with a large number of shoppers, where high throughput at checkout counters is required.
A distinguishing feature of the scanner is StratosSCAN - two scanning areas (horizontal and vertical) operate independently of each other. With this feature, the scanner features a six-sided, flat scanning pattern that enables 360-degree scanning coverage and a scanning speed of 6,000 scans per second. The use of this scanning pattern reduces the time it takes to position the barcode to the scanner (the barcode will be displayed in any position as long as it is within the scanning area), which increases the throughput of the checkout hub and relieves the checkout line at the point of sale.
The ability to decode RSS standard barcodes (RSS-14, RSS Limited, RSS Expanded), which is used in healthcare and drug retailing. If the goods sold are large or heavy, it is possible to connect an additional handheld scanner to the built-in scanner (via RS-232 interface). If this is not necessary, this interface can be used to connect a magnetic or chip card reader (e.g. for discount operations).
The series uses the unique StratosSWAPTM technology, in which the vertical and horizontal optical-mechanical units operate independently of each other. What's more, in the event of a failure of one unit, the other continues to operate, ensuring the continuity of the cash register. It should also be noted that the scanners have modifications both with and without scales for weighing goods.
